In line with Breast Cancer Awareness month, Trafford Palazzo is hosting a weekend of free, family-friendly events in support of The Christie Charity, one of the UK’s leading hospital charities.

Taking place from Saturday 4th to Sunday 5th October, the weekend of events will raise awareness and support those affected by cancer by bringing conversation and community together.

About The Christie

The Christie is the largest single-site cancer centre in Europe, looking after more than 60,000 patients a year, and the first UK centre to be accredited as a comprehensive cancer centre. The Christie Charity supports the work of the hospital providing enhanced services above and beyond what the NHS funds, by raising money to support research, care & treatment, education, and extra patient services.

FREE activites, workshops and drop-in support

Free for all visitors to attend, Trafford Palazzo will transform into a tranquil space for visitors to take part in a range of engaging and interactive activities, from art installations and adults-only calming workshops to creative children’s activities and inspiring drop-in sessions with Christie volunteers and patients.

Mindful Art Workshop

Saturday 4th October | 11:00am-12:00pm

As part of TP’s Breast Cancer Awareness Event, join The Christie’s resident artist for a FREE, family-friendly Mindful Art Workshop.

Open to both kids and adults, this relaxing session invites you to explore the calming benefits of art while supporting an important cause.

Balloon Selfie Wall: Snap a photo with The Christie's pink balloon wall and photo props - a fun way to show your support and share the love.

Christie Bear Appearance: The Christie Charity's beloved mascot will be on hand for photos and family fun throughout the day, with a special appearance from Trafford Palazzo's own Maximus too!

Ribbon Wall: Write a message of hope on a pink ribbon and add it to The Dome - creating a visual show of support for patients and their families.

Christie Charity Volunteers & Merchandise Stand: Learn more about The Christie Charity and support its work through merchandise and donations.

Cupcakes & Conversations

Saturday 4 October | 2pm - 4pm

Join a special drop-in session with The Christie Charity team and cancer patients.

Enjoy coffee and cupcakes while having open, impactful conversations that matter.

Children's 'embrace board' Activity

Saturday 4 & Sunday 5 October | 10:00am-4:00pm

Children can get hands-on decorating 'little people' figures for the Embrace Board - a collaborative artwork symbolising support, strength, and community.

Primark Breast Cancer Awareness campaign

For the fifth consecutive year, Primark will launch its global Breast Cancer Awareness campaign. As part of this, there will be a range of activities within the Trafford Palazzo store including a Think Pink Bake Sale on Friday 3 October and Wear It Pink Day! on 24 October.

There will also be a number of self-check assessment guides placed in the fitting rooms to educate customers.

Keep a check

More than a third of women don’t check their breasts - and remember men can also get breast cancer too.

There are lots of resources to help you remember and advice on how to check correctly.

The charity, Breast Cancer Now have a very useful guide to help you get to know your normal, what signs to look out for and what to do if you spot any changes.

Early detection is key

Breast cancer survival is improving and has doubled in the past 40 years in the UK due to a combination of improvements in treatment and care, earlier detection through awareness and screening and a focus on targets, including faster diagnosis.
